Animal Rescues Supported

ACW has partnered with ‘Raksha - Make A Difference’ located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India to help provide medical care and sanctuary to distressed animals, including those at risk of slaughter. Here is a snapshot of our sponsored animals:

Raju, Raka, and Julie: Three playful goats saved from slaughter to be cared for life at Raksha.

Nandini and Veera: A cow and her baby Veera were rescued from the streets in extremely sick and weak condition. The mother, Nandini, was so ill that she was unable to even stand without support. Sadly, despite all efforts, they could not be saved. However, through the funds donated by ACW, they experienced human care and kindness in their last days. The remaining funds were used to buy stands to rehabilitate other downed cows.

Our second partner organization is Almighty Animal Care Trust in Tamil Nadu, India. We helped save and sponsor the care of three cows who are doing well thanks to rescuer efforts.

  • Kavya was rescued in February after she was run over by a vehicle. Her hind leg bone splattered and had to be amputated. She is recovering well and will be fitted with prosthetics in hopes of walking again.

  • Seetha was rescued from Thiruvarur after suffering an accident which resulted in a lumbar spine fracture, making it impossible for her to walk again. She is being given supportive therapy to alleviate pain and extend her life.

  • Raja suffered broken front and back legs due to a vehicle collision and was at risk of slaughter as a butcher attempted to take him. However, Vignesh from Almighty Care rescued Raja, providing him with the necessary medical care. We were thrilled to learn that despite all odds, Raja is able to walk now.

Emergency funds are provided on an ad-hoc basis for critical cases rescued by genuine organizations other than the two partner organizations. Animal rescuer Sunitha Christy informed us about a pregnant cow who had a broken leg and ACW donated funds for her care. This rescued cow is currently recovering well.

Supporting Artisans

We have successfully supported our product lines Avirose and Vedanta by promoting and providing additional avenues to sell their products. The beautiful handcrafted products were highly sought after during our first in-person fundraiser; we sold dozens of table runners, cushion covers, stoles, and tops. The funds raised were then donated towards the rehabilitation of the animals featured above.

The all-woman team of Avirose strives to create products that usher in serenity and bring a vintage feel to the spaces in our homes. Through the sale of these products, the underprivileged women who have been employed by Avirose are able to support themselves and their families.

Vedanta is also a woman-owned enterprise that manufactures unique handcrafted products, providing employment to underprivileged artisans.

Since one of our key objectives is to inspire and empower individuals to make compassionate choices that benefit people, animals, and the planet, we use different platforms to amplify our message. Our talented summer interns have been instrumental in increasing our social media presence through creative and educational posts on multiple platforms. Our social media followers have more than doubled in the last three months.

We felt empowered and inspired after a successful tabling event at the 2023 Youth Leadership Summit hosted by the incredible Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action team! We feel grateful for the opportunity to share how food and lifestyle choices make a big impact on climate change. With many of the youth we met inclined to be/already plant-based, we are reassured that the future of our environment is in good hands. We had great conversations with youth and handed out plant-based snacks and beverages which were very well received. We were really thrilled to be featured in local newspapers.
